Oomiwa Shrine is located in Sakurai city, Nara Prefecture.
It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Taishoro Ryokan.
The main buildings are not especially old.
They date from 1664, but they stand out handsomely against the green of the mountains.

Oomiwa Shrine is a place of pilgrimage especially for sake brewers, who obtain large balls made of sugi wood which are believed to bring good fortune in their business.
Oomiwa Shrine is also a mecca for people deal in medicines, but many other people, whatever their professions, come here at all hours of the day and night to make vows and ask favours of the gods.
